Why choosing Birmingham City University can make a real difference to your future:
Investing in your future
Although we have a rich heritage, we’re constantly investing in improvements to our facilities, ensuring that you benefit from a state-of-the-art learning environment. Our £260 million investment programme includes the new state-of-the-art Curzon Building at our City Centre Campus, a new £57 million home for Birmingham Conservatoire due to open in 2017 and a £41 million investment in our City South Campus.
Getting you job-ready
Our commitment to developing graduates with the skills and experience employers need means that within six months of graduating, 94 per cent of UK undergraduate students are in employment or further study (DLHE survey 2014/15). Whatever subjects you choose, we focus on giving you up-to-date knowledge and real-world experience, so you’ll be ready to launch into your chosen career. Find out more about our commitment to your employability.
£150 free credit for books and other learning materials
To welcome all new home and EU undergraduate students starting in 2017 or 2018, we're giving away at least £150 worth of credit to spend in a host of ways, on books and a range of learning materials. Even better, it doesn't have to be repaid.
Learn from the best
From the UK's leading criminologist to a 'Hot 100' jeweller, our teaching staff come from and maintain links with industry, ensuring you benefit from their knowledge and insight. Our schools and courses regularly rank highly in national league tables.
In the most recent audit of our research expertise - the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF) – 90 per cent of Birmingham City University’s total submission was judged to have delivered ‘outstanding’ or ‘very considerable’ impact externally.
Earn while you learn
Our student employment agency, OpportUNIty - Student Jobs on Campus, allows you to apply for temporary and casual staffing roles at the University, providing experience in crucial aspects of job application, as well as employability skills to take into the workplace.
We’ve invested in innovative student support, such as groundbreaking mobile learning and teaching research which brings our courses to life, including the Virtual Case Creator - a pioneering online simulation tool for Health students; the School of Law's Virtual Solicitors' Office; and the School of Education's virtual school. Our online learning site, Moodle, provides 24-hour access to resources and flexible approaches to learning.
Working in partnership
We work with our students to ensure we are meeting your needs and aspirations at all times.
