An Applicant Taster Day is more in-depth than an Open Day and gives you a more tailored experience. You’ll find out more about your course and hear about the student experience through taster sessions and opportunities to meet academic staff and current students. You will also have an opportunity to view our accommodation and chat to our support services.
If you have already been to an Open Day, this is your chance to explore your course and subject area in more detail and if not, you’ll get an in-depth introduction to studying here.
Here are some of the things you'll be able to see and do during your Applicant Taster Day:
Get in-depth information about your chosen course.
Hear about the student experience at BCU, and where your course will take you.
See the facilities that you’ll have access to on your course.
Talk to your future academic tutors.
Our current students will tell you what it’s really like to study here.
Find out about finance, accommodation and student support.

Exquisite Bodies: Drawing with the body
This workshop will explore how artists use their bodies in the making of their work. Whether that be through gestural mark making or performance.
Bring in one of your past projects (sketchbooks etc.) as a discussion point for the workshop.
In the first part of the workshop, you will make experimental drawings with strange and wonderful rules and prompts. You will try drawing with awkward implements, with only a little bit of time and with physical constraints.
Exquisite Bodies: Extending the body
For the second part of the workshop you will be challenged to think about performance in an expanded and potentially bodiless way. Responding to GIFs and TikTok's you will make exquisite corpse extensions or the inverted point of view of the videos you find.
You don't need to be in the videos yourself but use props, sounds and clips to contribute to extending or translating existing clips.
We're currently offering a range of discounts to help you to travel to your Applicant Taster Day.
