Sorry, no dates are available for this course at this time.

This part-time short course aims to teach you the carving, modelling and designing skills, whether at a beginner or more advanced level. This will include wax carving using files and burrs, applying heat for building up a model or repairing mistakes and finishing techniques to obtain a clean casting. You will be introduced to various metal finishing techniques to fully complete your pieces of jewellery.

The tutor will demonstrate how to make a prototype that can be reproduced to make multiples of the same design. The lost wax method and mould making technique will be explained accurately.

You will also be encouraged to develop your ideas and designs, exploring the possibilities through drawing and working directly with wax or milliput. By the end of this course you will be able to design three dimensional pieces suitable for casting.

This will run from October to December 2017. Term time only.
