The Institute of Creative and Critical Writing invites you to join us for an evening of short story readings, and a discussion with Kit de Waal about writing short stories, winning prizes and the role of short story competitions in developing a career as a writer.

Kit de Waal has won and been listed in numerous competitions for her short stories (including Costa Short Story Prize, The Bridport Prize, Bath Short Story Award, Bare Fiction and Fish Publishing) and has recently signed a three-book deal with Penguin.

Forthcoming events in The Institute of Creative and Critical Writing

The Institute of Creative and Critical Writing is devoted to cultivating the literary arts and the life of ideas with public masterclasses, workshops and talks.

Based within the School of English at Birmingham City University, the activities of the Institute both enrich the University’s creative writing courses, through its series of masterclasses and guest authors, and engage with the wider culture beyond the University, through its calendar of public events.

Forthcoming dates will be announced soon.
