A group of future designers from Birmingham City University are providing members of the public with a sneak peek into the home furnishings and interior design trends that will soon be at the top of our wish lists – by showcasing them at a city centre IKEA store.
Students from the University’s School of Fashion and Textiles are showcasing a range of design concepts at IKEA Birmingham’s order & collection point store in Birmingham until 20 March.
The ‘Worth’ and ‘Hush’ trends, identified by international creative experts Colour Hive, have been brought to life by over 50 Birmingham City University students with room sets featuring lighting and furnishings aimed to inspire future interior designers.
“Challenging our students to come up with brand new concepts which are fresh and engaging has generated some truly innovative designs on display,” said Charmaine Stint, Development Manager at the Institute for Creative Innovation at Birmingham City University.
Student designs on display include threaded wallpaper, lampshades and cushion patterns.
Dawn Lloyd, Unit Manager at IKEA Birmingham Central, added: “At IKEA, our vision is to create a better everyday life for many people and this includes our co-workers, customers and the communities surrounding our stores.
