We operate a free ‘Meet and Greet’ service at Birmingham Airport for all of our new international and EU students starting a course at the University from July to September only.
Our team will be available to welcome you on specific Meet and Greet Weekends and will be happy to answer any questions that you may have. The team will then help with your transfer by coach or taxi to your accommodation.
The service is only available from Birmingham Airport to Birmingham City University Halls of Residence on set weekends in July - September.
The Meet and Greet Service will run from Birmingham Airport between 9am and 10pm as follows:
- 6 week Pre-sessional English Course
Friday 28 July 2017 - Sunday 30 July 2017
- September Intake for main course of study
Thursday 7 September 2017 - Sunday 10 September 2017
How to book?
Register to use the Meet and Greet Service by completing the International & EU Arrival Form.
Once you have fully completed and submitted the International & EU Arrival Form you will automatically receive a confirmation email. It is important that you print this confirmation for your records as it contains useful information on who to contact at the University if you have any questions or problems.
Please make sure that you enter your email address correctly as we will use this to send you important information about your arrival to the University.
Don't forget to make sure that your arrival date matches your accommodation start date.
If you arrive outside of the Meet and Greet weekend dates and times or if you don’t want to use the Meet and Greet Service
There is an Airport Taxi Rank located directly outside the airport building. All of the taxis are Black Cabs licensed by Birmingham City Council and operate a 24-hour, 365 day service. You can take one of these taxis to your accommodation. Birmingham Airport is approximately 15 miles from Birmingham City Centre and this journey will take around 30 minutes. The taxi from Birmingham Airport to your accommodation will cost approximately £30 - £35. All taxis from the Airport Taxi Rank accept major debit and credit cards, or you can pay with UK Pounds Sterling.
We'll refund the cost of your taxi (up to a maximum of £35) from Birmingham Airport to University accommodation. It's important that you tell the driver that you require a receipt for the journey to your accommodation. Keep this receipt safe as you will need it to claim back the cost of your airport transfer from our Student Affairs team.
If you are not arriving at Birmingham Airport, see our Arriving in the UK page.
