Alison completed her first degree at the University of Leicester and went on to qualify as a solicitor in private practice, working with the firm Eversheds. She joined Birmingham City University in 1989.
In the past, Alison has taught on the LLB, GDL and LPC programmes of study. Currently, she works part-time and concentrate on teaching around civil law in the form of the Law of Tort on the LLB undergraduate programme, together with the skills and employability module Professional Skills and Practice which she leads. Alison is also currently part way through a doctoral programme at the University of Nottingham where she is researching into emotional intelligence and assessment feedback in higher education.
