Sky Scholarship

What is the Sky Scholarship?

The Sky Scholarship offers media students the chance to gain work experience with leading broadcaster, Sky.

How does it work?

The annual programme offers students the chance to work in the Content Services department for Sky, which will open their eyes to a wealth of broadcasting roles that they may previously have been unaware of, such as Ingest, Quality Control, Audio Description, Stills and Archive. In the second week of the placement students have a choice about where they are placed.

The student judged to have performed best during the two-week placement receives a scholarship award from Sky of £1,500, with the runners-up each receiving cash awards.

Many students who have won placements with Sky have gone on to get a job there when they have graduated.

Who can apply?

The scheme is open to current undergraduate and postgraduate students in the School of Media at BCU.

How do you apply?

Each year there is a briefing event by Sky for Media students about the Scholarship. Interested students fill in an application form; Sky short-list applicants for interview, with up to four students being selected for the paid placement opportunity. The briefing, application form and deadline will be advertised to current School of Media students.
