One of the leading performers and educators in the UK has joined Birmingham Conservatoire, part of Birmingham City University, as a senior lecturer in Jazz.
A graduate of the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and winner of the BBC Big Band Drummer 2001, Andrew Bain has performed with artists including Natalie Cole, Wynston Marsalis and Grammy Award winning trumpeter and flugelhornist Randy Brecker.
Born in Edinburgh, Andrew Bain began studying percussion and drumset at the age of twelve, showing early progress in many classical and jazz ensembles including The National Youth Orchestra of Scotland and The National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Scotland.
Andrew received a Master of Music degree from the Manhattan School of Music and co-leads the New York based-group Confluence. Andrew is currently a member of the National Youth Jazz Collective and is also an Artistic Director of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Scotland.
