The Nurse Education Provider of the Year (post-registration) category recognises outstanding educational institutions that offer courses to develop the leadership, management and clinical skills of qualified nurses, and which provide an educational environment that nurtures and develops the talent of qualified nurses.

On presenting the award the judges commented: “Outstanding support, staff that are tirelessly working to achieve the best for their students, excellent resources and a fabulous environment were comments that were given over and over again by students who could not speak highly enough of this University.”

The Student Nursing Times Awards, now in its sixth year, aims to celebrate the drive and commitment of those who go the extra mile, and are the only awards to celebrate the very best in student nurses and nurse education.

This year Birmingham City University received a total of 10 nominations, including those for Student Nurse of the Year, for Adult, Child and Mental Health Nursing; Student Placement of the Year; and Outstanding Contribution to Student Affairs.

Carol Doyle, Head of School for Nursing and Midwifery at Birmingham City University, said:

“The students spoke highly of the support given to them during their studies and the tireless way the staff worked to help them to achieve their best. Comments about the excellent resources and fabulous environment were made over and over again by the students who could not speak highly enough of the University.”

Nursing Times and Student Nursing Times Editor, Jenni Middleton commented: “The Student Nursing Times Awards are always very special. Every year I am impressed by the standard of the students who enter - they demonstrate all the hard work, intelligence, enthusiasm, passion and skill we want to see in our future workforce. It is incredible to look at what they achieve in addition to their studies. Of course, they could not do that without the support of their mentors on placement and university staff, which is why we are so pleased to be able to honour those individuals and institutions in these awards too. This event shows the excellence entering nursing and we are extremely proud of all our finalists and winners. Congratulations to them all.”
