Birmingham School of Acting’s ‘big three’ soap stars

Catherine Tyldesley

Birmingham School of Acting (BSA) graduates are now starring in each of the ‘big three’ soaps – Coronation Street, Eastenders and Emmerdale.

Last month, Catherine Tyldesley joined the cast of Coronation Street as Eva Price, Leanne Barlow’s long-lost half-sister. It’s not the first time Catherine has appeared in Corrie – in 2005 she played a midwife when Sunita Alahan gave birth to twins. She also played prison warder Abi Peterson in Emmerdale.

Fellow BSA graduate Rachel Bright is playing Poppy Meadow, a friend of Jodie Gold in Eastenders. She debuted in the soap in January and will return later in 2011.

Completing the impressive trio is Tom Lister, who plays Carl King in Emmerdale. The Yorkshire-born actor, who graduated in 2001, has been a regular in the ITV soap since February 2004.
