Following the Westminster terror attack on March 22nd, Birmingham City University’s expert on counter-terrorism and Islamophobia, Dr Imran Awan, has been providing in-depth knowledge and expertise to various media outlets, hoping to make sense of recent events.

Imran has appeared on the likes of BBC PanoramaChannel 4 News and BBC Radio 4 – The World at One, and was interviewed by the Birmingham Mail. Internationally, he also appeared on Duetsche Welle TV in Germany, and CTV Canadian TV.

After condemning the attack and praising the response from the police and security services, Imran spoke out on Twitter, saying “Diversity is our greatest strength . . . An attack on Parliament is an attack on all of us!”.

The attack happened at 2:40pm on Wednesday afternoon, when the attacker drove a rented van onto Westminster Bridge, running over several pedestrians before breaking into Parliament Yard, where he killed unarmed PC Keith Palmer. The attacker was then shot dead by a close protection officer.
