Visual Communication in Birmingham

Birmingham has one of the biggest media and creative arts communities outside London, with many of them based in the city’s Eastside district, home of our City Centre Campus.

6,000
of our students are enrolled on creative courses.

Birmingham's arts sector ensures a thriving cultural scene for residents and visitors, as well as playing a significant role in the city's economy. For our students and graduates, being at the heart of such a vibrant and exciting city provides both inspiration and career opportunities.

We are located at Eastside, the centre of Birmingham’s thriving artistic and creative community. We are short walk away from the Custard Factory, a home to artists, creative enterprises, galleries, cafes and a cinema/theatre space.  Arts producers and exhibitors such as Capsule and Flatpack have made their home at the Custard Factory, and deliver internationally-acclaimed events and festivals on a regular basis.

Eastside also has many galleries and artist-run spaces, including Eastside Projects, The Edge and The Lombard Method. Warwick Bar, located a short walk away from the Parkside Campus, is home to spaces including Grand Union, Vivid Projects, Stryx and Edible Eastside, many of whom enjoy connections with our Faculty.

The Centre of Birmingham boasts the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, and the Hippodrome, the UK’s busiest theatre outside of London’s West End.
Beyond the £188 million Library of Birmingham and the ICC, there is IKON, located in Brindleyplace.
Recently refurbished arts centre MAC is also only a short bus ride away from the city.
