Professor Eileen McAuliffe

Pro Vice-Chancellor Global and Executive Dean of the Faculty of Business, Law and Social Sciences (BLSS)

Professor Eileen McAuliffe is an influential leader in both the academic and business worlds, serving as Pro Vice-Chancellor Global and Executive Dean of the Faculty of Business, Law, and Social Sciences (BLSS) at Birmingham City University (BCU). In her role as Pro Vice-Chancellor Global, Eileen is responsible for steering the international dimension of the University’s Strategy for 2030 and Beyond, ensuring the institution’s global initiatives align with its long-term vision.

As Executive Dean of the Faculty of BLSS, she is at the forefront of shaping the faculty’s strategic direction, making critical decisions, and implementing policies that drive operational excellence. Her leadership is marked by a commitment to innovation, academic rigor, and a forward-thinking approach to education.

Eileen brings a wealth of experience from both industry and academia, uniquely positioning her to navigate the complexities of the contemporary higher education landscape. Before her current role, she served as the Dean of Sheffield Business School and subsequently the founding Dean of the College of Business, Technology, and Engineering at Sheffield Hallam University. Her academic career also includes significant leadership positions at Coventry University within Coventry Business School and the Faculty of Business and Law.

Internationally recognized for her expertise in taxation, Eileen was appointed Professor of International Taxation in 2020. She is a prominent member of the United Nations Platform for the Collaboration on Tax and is actively involved with the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) and the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). In recognition of her contributions to management education across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, she was elected to the AACSB’s Board of Directors in 2021. Currently, she is engaged in a World Economic Forum project focused on leveraging business education to drive societal impact.

Her insights are frequently sought after by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), where she often collaborates with the Centre for Tax Policy and Administration. In recognition of her contributions to discussions on tax morale and corruption, she was named a BBC Expert Woman in November 2018.

A qualified accountant with a robust academic background, Eileen earned her PhD in International Taxation in 2017. Her extensive international career in the oil industry further underscores her diverse expertise and global perspective.
