Biography

I am the Course Leader and Senior Lecturer for the MSc in Sport and Exercise Nutrition. I am a Practitioner on the Sport and Exercise Nutrition register (SENr).

I have over 12 years’ experience of working as a Performance Nutritionist within professional sports such as football and cricket. These roles have involved designing and delivering nutrition support to optimise athletes’ health and performance. I am particularly passionate about the role of nutrition in enhancing sports performance.

Industry expertise

My area of expertise is within the application of sport and exercise nutrition. My 12 years’ experience as a Performance Nutritionist has enabled me to work at the top level to support athletes fuelling and recovery demands, optimise health and manage body composition.

I am an International Society of the Advancement of Kinanthropometry (ISAK) Level 3 certified Anthropometrist (anthropometrics is the practice of taking measurements of the human body), which enables me to train and certify ISAK level 1 Anthropometrists.

Current research

I am currently undertaking research within professional football, specifically investigating the energy demands and nutrition intake around the competitive match, and how nutritional interventions may influence dietary behaviour. I continue to disseminate this emerging research at conferences and events to contribute to the growing body of research within the sport and exercise nutrition field.
