Our Royal Birmingham Conservatoire graduates have gone on to star in or work behind the scenes of television shows, blockbuster movies and stage productions. Check out what some of our talented Alumni are up to this month.
Alumna nominated for SAG award
Acting alumna Nicola Coughlan has been nominated for a SAG award, in the Female Actor in a Drama Series category, for her role as Penelope Featherington in Bridgerton, whose storyline led the latest series. The SAG awards will be held in February 2025.
Alumnus scores Oscar-nominated film
Benjamin Stefanski, best known by alias Raffertie, who studied Classical and Contemporary Music Composition at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, wrote the original score for the motion picture The Substance, for which Demi Moore is nominated for an Oscar.
Alumna stars in Call the Midwife Season 14
Acting alumna Helen George returns to her role as Trixie in Call the Midwife’s 14th season, Sundays at 8PM on BBC One.
Alumna nominated for NAACP award
Acting alumna Danielle Pinnock has been nominated for a NAACP Image Award for her role as Alberta in the US series, Ghosts. The winners will be announced in February 2025.

Mara Huf in Much Ado About Nothing
After finishing a run in The Tempest alongside Sigourney Weaver, Acting alumna Mara Huf will now star in Much Ado About Nothing as Hero alongside Tom Hiddleston and Hayley Atwell. Running from 10 February to 5 April at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane.
Alumnus releases new single
Jazz alumnus, Elliott Jack Sansom, who is now a pianist and composer with more than 800,000 monthly Spotify listeners, released his latest single ‘Night Light’ on Friday 10 January, which is from his upcoming album, Opening Serenade, releasing in May of this year.
Graduate stars in Animal Farm adaptation
Alumnus Gabriel Paul stars as Boxer in Animal Farm, which will run from 7 February to 8 March at Stratford East, before touring in Leeds and Nottingham.
Graduate releases new album
Rhydian Roberts, who studied at our Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, released his new album, ‘The Very Best of my Life,’ digitally on 12 December 2024 and it is due to be released in physical format on his birthday, 14 February.
Graduate stars in Shakespeare play
Acting alumnus Joseph Rowe stars in the Ensemble of RSC’s Edward II, playing at the Swan Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon from 21 February until 5 April.
