Our Royal Birmingham Conservatoire graduates have gone on to star in or work behind the scenes of television shows, blockbuster movies and stage productions. Check out what some of our talented Alumni are up to this month.

Acting alumna named in two TIME lists

Nicola Coughlan was named in this year’s TIME100 Next list, which is now in its fifth year, in the ‘artist’ category. TIME say this list “was created to recognize that many of today’s most influential leaders are individuals who are not waiting long in life to make an impact.”

She was also named in TIME’s Next Generation Leaders list for 2024. The list has been going since 2014 and has included some of Nicola’s co-stars such as Johnathan Bailey and Ncuti Gatwa.

Eight graduates involved in Black History Month festival

BMus graduates Lucy-Anne Daniels, Leo Morland, Matthew Holmes, Kai Churensey, Ben Love, David Austen Grey, Dan Kempshell and Josh Vadiveloo all took part in Birmingham Jazz’s Black History Month Festival.

On 26 October, BMus and MMus Composition graduate Emily Abdy performed with the London Symphony Orchestra as part of Nonclassical’s 20th Anniversary concert “NONCLAXXICAL” at Hackney Empire.

Alumnus Graham MacDonnell starred as Joey in The Old Joint Stock’s production of A Steady Rain, 16-19 October.


Grad plays iconic Hattie Jacques

Acting graduate Iona Crumpton stars as Hattie Jacques in Hambledon Productions’ Hancock's Half Hour: The Lost TV Episodes, which began on 9 October and runs until 29 November.

Grad’s panto nominated for award

We are thrilled to hear that The Saint Joseph Theatre’s 2023 Christmas show, Beauty and the Beast, has been nominated in the category of Best Play for Children and Young People in the UK Theatre Awards! The show starred Acting graduate Kiara Pillai as Beauty.


Graduate stars in show’s World Premiere

Acting graduate Andy Rush stars in The Forsyte Saga Parts 1 and 2, an epic retelling of John Galsworthy's classic period drama, at Park Theatre, London from 11th October - 7th December 2024.
