From the mainstream bustle of Broad Street to the underground scene in Digbeth and the laid-back bars in student-friendly Selly Oak or bohemian Moseley, we've got nightlife covered.
Check out iconic club nights at The Institute or one of the other many clubs on Birmingham's Broad Street. Plenty of bars draw a more mature crowd too, from big name chains like All Bar One and the sophisticated Laurent Perrier Champagne Bar at The Cube to hundreds of friendly local pubs.

Birmingham is the youngest city in Europe, with under-25s accounting for nearly 40 per cent of the population. Because of this, the city has an abundance of opportunities for the young including the pubs and bars of student-rich Selly Oak. There is something for everyone but my housemate loves the alternative nights at bar Scruffy Murphy’s and club Subside, highlighting their ’wicked drinks deals‘. If you are more interested in cocktails and dancing, the Jewellery Quarter has a lot of bars including The Rectory, with cocktail deals if you get there before 9pm. My favourite bar, BrewDog, prides itself on interesting ales but also stocks great whisky and bar snacks.
If a good meal out is your preferred way to spend an evening, Birmingham will not disappoint you – it has everything from Mexican to Mongolian cuisine, and of course you can't come to Birmingham without trying one of its speciality Baltis. Head for the Birmingham Balti Mile, which offers the authentic Balti dining experience with more than 49 different restaurants in one square mile – an inexpensive and informal dining delight.
Birmingham's Chinatown buffet specials are another firm favourite with the student population. And you'll find all the big names here, too – Wagamama, Pizza Express, Shimla Pinks, Café Rouge, TGI Fridays... we even have Michelin-starred restaurants.
