BCU graduate wins planning award

BCU graduate Jenna Langford has been awarded Young Planner of the Year at the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) Awards for Planning Excellence.

Former MA Spatial Planning student Jenna graduated in 2012, and is currently Regeneration Manager at Sandwell Council.

On 24 April, over 500 built environment professionals celebrated the outstanding contribution that planners and planning make to society at the RTPI Awards for Planning Excellence in central London.

The judging panel was made up of 33 prominent planning experts from local authorities, private practices, universities and non-departmental public bodies. There were 14 categories in total.

The judges said, “Jenna has huge enthusiasm for planning and the role it plays in building successful and prosperous communities. The judges were inspired by her drive to get the community involved with the work of planners and her commitment to the community she serves.

“Since joining the profession in 2010 and becoming chartered in 2015, Jenna’s achievements include Sandwell’s innovative Development Ready charter, where Sandwell won National LPA Team of the year 2014.

“Jenna leads the way in proactively working with partners to deliver Sandwell’s complex regeneration schemes, becoming Regeneration Manager in 2018. Jenna is now developing Sandwell’s first Regeneration Strategy to integrate Inclusive Growth measures for equitable prosperity.”
