Chloe is a Midlands-based saxophonist who studied for her undergraduate and Master’s degrees at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. Upon graduating with distinction, she was awarded the Musicians Union Bill Warman Award and the Postgraduate Pedagogy Award.
Chloe is currently the Saxophone Tutor for the Junior Department of Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, as well as working at other independent schools across the Midlands. Her teaching approach is flexible and open-minded, allowing her lessons to remain accessible for all students, regardless of their ability, goal or learning style.
As an orchestral player, Chloe has worked with many ensembles within the UK and across Europe, most notably performances with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and European Union Youth Wind Orchestra. As a multi-instrumentalist, Chloe’s performance experience includes recent productions of: ‘Tell Me On A Sunday’ (UK tour); ‘Cats’ (Limassol Theatre, Cyprus); ‘Singin’ In the Rain’ (The Mill, Sonning). Chloe currently plays saxophone and flute full time on the UK tour of ‘FastLove: A Tribute to George Michael’.
In 2018, Chloe co-founded chamber group The Kassia Trio. The group is a modern re-invention of the piano trio made up of two saxophones (Chloe Percy-Smith and Emma Jones) and piano (Amy Bladon). The trio’s aim is to keep classical music accessible, as well as helping to promote the saxophone as a classical instrument. They perform regular recitals across the UK.
