David graduated with an MMus from Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in Vocal and Operatic Performance. Whilst studying he also received a full scholarship to study Choral Conducting.

David mixes his time between conducting, educating and freelance singing. Away from RBC, David works as Music Director for two large-scale choruses, the historic Birmingham Festival Choral Society and Coventry Philharmonic. David is also in demand as guest conductor and workshop leader.

He is a firm believer in educating the next generations of musicians and providing opportunities to those who may not previously have had access to music education. For 10 years, David co-founded and directed the St. Chad’s Choral Outreach programme, providing singing sessions with over 4000 primary children across the Midlands.

David has also worked with some of the country’s leading music education services, working as a choral director and musicianship tutor for Opera North, choral director for Welsh National Opera and on the Choir Creation scheme, a collaboration between the Royal Albert Hall and the Armonico Consort. David is currently working as a vocal tutor at King Edwards VI Fiveways Grammar School and Eversfield Preparatory School.

As well as being a freelance baritone soloist and consort singer, he has held permanent lay-clerk positions at St Chad’s Cathedral, Birmingham and St. Anne’s Cathedral, Leeds, and has performed many times as a musician of the Royal Shakespeare Company. David has also recorded extensively for both TV and Radio.
