Miriam Kitchener
Miriam Kitchener is a percussionist, educator and animateur based in Birmingham. She graduated with Distinction from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in 2018, with a Masters degree in Percussion Performance. Since then, she has gone on to perform regularly with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Opera North, The Royal Shakespeare Company and Birmingham Contemporary Music Group.
As well as having a varied career as a performer, Miriam is also passionate about providing inclusive music education for young people and works extensively as an educator for In Harmony Telford and Stoke-on-Trent where she is the Assistant Project Manager. Miriam is also a tutor for the National Youth Orchestra and is keen to ensure that her students are offered a diverse and well-rounded music education. Miriam is passionate about working with children with SEND and is currently studying for a PGCert in Music and Children with Special Abilities and Needs. Other education projects have included working with Opera North, The City of London Sinfonia and Welsh National Opera. Miriam’s past Junior Conservatoire students have gone on to study at The Royal College of Music, Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.
