Steve Lee, an award-winning trumpet player with over 25 years of freelance experience, is renowned for his versatility and excellence across diverse musical genres. Since graduating from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in 2001, he performs regularly in settings that range from orchestras and brass chamber music ensembles to solo concerts and theatre productions.
His extensive performance résumé also includes work with the Royal Shakespeare Company, Onyx Brass, the Orchestra of the Swan, and the English Symphony Orchestra, and for the past 14 years he has been the trumpet player for the Pantomime at the Birmingham Hippodrome.
A founding member of Sennet Brass, one of the Midlands’ most in-demand brass quintets, Steve has further cemented his reputation as a skilled and versatile brass musician. His commitment to musical excellence extends to education, where he is a dedicated and passionate trumpet teacher. Alongside his work at Junior Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, Steve currently holds teaching positions at Warwick School, Rugby School, and The University of Birmingham, where he enjoys sharing his expertise and inspiring the next generation of trumpet players.
Future engagements include the world premiere of Robert Ramskill’s Trumpet Concerto in 2025 with the Sutton Coldfield Orchestra.
