Junior Conservatoire alumnus Jeevan Briach has received a glowing review from The Guardian’s Chief Theatre Critic Arifa Akbar for his part as young steam train and main protagonist, Rusty, in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Starlight Express.
The iconic musical hit the stage on Saturday 8 June at Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre, which has been specifically designed for this production, and will run until 16 February 2025.
Arifa said: “A love story emerges between Pearl (Kayna Montecillo) and Rusty (Jeevan Braich), which is the closest thing to a locomotive meet-cute. Braich has a truly extraordinary voice, and there is great tender chemistry between Rusty and Pearl.”
Jeevan studied at the Junior Conservatoire for five years, where he received specialist training, alongside other young musicians aged between eight and 18 years with exceptional potential.
In a past interview with RBC This Week, Jeevan said: “As nerve racking as the auditions were, I know I was prepared thanks to my incredible singing mentor Claire Wild, and the opportunity to practise and thrive at the Conservatoire each week.
“I was singing the Conservatoire’s praises during my auditions and will continue to do so.”
