Following a successful pilot in 2017, we are pleased to see the expansion of our Ballet Piano Scheme for piano students in collaboration with Elmhurst Ballet School.
Set up by RBC’s Ballet Piano Co-ordinators, Katharine Lam and Luan Shaw in conjunction with Elmhurst Ballet Pianist, Mikael Petersson, the scheme aims to provide students with the opportunity to experience, explore and develop ballet piano skills at the world renowned centre of excellence, Elmhurst Ballet School.
A group of 30 students spent a very enjoyable afternoon observing classes at Elmhurst. Auditions followed and congratulations go to Stephen Crewes and Bogdan Suciu, the latest students to have been offered a place on the scheme!
MMus student Connor Wilcox, who successfully completed the scheme last year, has this year gone on to undertake a project at Birmingham Royal Ballet with Principal Pianist, Jonathan Higgins. This culminated in him playing for a full stage and piano call of Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker Act 2 with conductor Matthew Rowe from the Dutch National Ballet.
