The Learning and Participation (LEAP) Ensemble recently rehearsed and performed alongside 450 young musicians through a new partnership between RBC and the Bristol Cathedral Schools Trust.
The LEAP Ensemble, made up of students, staff and alumni dedicated to inspiring young people across the UK, visited young musicians in Bristol earlier this month to highlight pathways to a conservatoire education.
The Bristol Cathedral Schools Trust is led by alumnus Andi Nicholls and prioritises music as a key part of education across its schools. The Trust aims to deliver a range of different music education opportunities for its pupils.
The performance from the LEAP Ensemble and pupils from the Trust at the Bristol Beacon Concert Hall was the first of many joint educational and performance projects planned.
Head of Learning and Participation Associate Professor Richard Shrewsbury commented: “We are so pleased to have developed such a strong relationship with the Bristol Cathedral Schools Trust. The performance was a shining example of how impactful music can be for young people when prioritised in secondary education.
“We are very much looking forward to working together with all the schools in the Trust in future years, building pathways for young musicians, and we hope that some of them might consider a career in music and the arts and study with us here at RBC.”
