Staff, students and alumni will join forces at the summer festival Garsington Opera for Mozart’s ‘Le Nozze di Figaro’.

Head of Vocal and Operatic Studies Paul Wingfield will conduct the Philharmonia Orchestra on Wednesday 17 July at Garsington Opera, Wormsley Estate, in Buckinghamshire.

Paul will conduct Mozart’s ‘Le Nozze di Figaro’ for the company in an OperaFirst performance, which allows young people the chance to experience a full-scale production at the famous summer festival.

The main cast includes alumni Claire Lees as Susanna and Frazer Scott as Antonio, as well as current student Justin Jacobs (chorus) who won a place on the Alvarez Young Artists’ Programme. The scheme aims to discover and nurture the next generation of professional opera singers.

The festival runs until Wednesday 31 July and the season features Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Verdi’s un Giorno di Regno and a community opera by Andrew Norman titled, A Trip to the Moon. Alumna Holly Teague has received fantastic reviews for her role in Rameau's opera 'Platée'.

Paul Wingfield said: “I'm thrilled to be working at Garsington again and continuing my relationship with the Philharmonia. It has been fantastic to see such a great representation of RBC singers at this world-class festival.”
