Teaching successes for student pianists
Congratulations to students Fiorella Barbaro, who has been appointed as Graduate Assistant at Bloxham School, and Thuy-Vi Nguyen, who is currently teaching at Edgbaston High School and is set to study a PGCE in Secondary Music at the University of Cambridge. -
Acting graduate on stage in War Horse sequel

New album tracks composed for individual musicians
PhD alumna and experimental composer Maya Verlaak’s album will be released on Friday 16 February by Birmingham Record Company. ‘Trace’ features six pieces composed for specific musicians, recorded in their own homes. -

Piano Concerto nominated for a Premiere Award
Staff, students and friends of RBC can vote for Visiting Lecturer and multi award-winning composer Errollyn Wallen’s ‘Piano Concerto’, which has been nominated for an award in the Premiere category of BBC Music Magazine’s 2024 Awards. -

Meet the alumna working on Hamilton’s first UK tour
A BCU Alumna is one of the many faces working hard behind the scenes to bring the multi-award-winning musical, Hamilton, to stages across the country in its first UK and Ireland tour. Stage Management alumna Lauren Wood, who joined the Hamilton team last summer, has worked on touring productions since she graduated from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in 2017. -
