Ambache and Leamington Prizes

Ambache Prize for the Performance of Music by Women Composers

Adjudicator Diana Ambache (pictured)

The Ambache Prize celebrates the importance of music by female composers from all periods and in all genres. Open to both undergraduates and postgraduates, students can perform as a small ensemble (encouraged) or soloist, and this special prize always promises wonderful variety in both its competitors and their repertoire.

Leamington Music Prize

Adjudicator Helen Beecroft

Leamington Music was launched in October 2006 by Festival Director Richard Phillips (an Hon. Fellow of the Conservatoire) to promote chamber music and early music concerts and festivals in Leamington and Warwick. Richard and Assistant Director Helen Beecroft (a Conservatoire alumna) put on over thirty concerts a year in the form of a Winter Season - running October to March along with a strong Education Programme - and the five-day Leamington Music Festival which takes place over the first bank holiday weekend in May.

The Leamington Music Prize, which dates back to 2009, is funded by the Friends of Leamington Music and the concert that is part of the Prize is supported with funds from the late Harry Hyamson. The concert normally takes place in Leamington or Warwick during the Autumn. To keep in touch with Leamington Music, visit www.leamingtonmusic.org or join the email list by sending your details to helen@leamingtonmusic.org.

The finals of the Leamington Music Prize and the Ambache Prize for the Performance of Music by Women Composers are combined. There will be separate adjudication panels for each prize. Every finalist will be heard simultaneously by the adjudication panels for each prize, and winners chosen.

Running time approx. three hours and 30 minutes
