Shaping the Future: The Development, Value, and Identity of Nursing Associates

As the largest provider for the FdSc Nursing Associate course, with seven years of experience in training Nursing Associates, BCU is proud to be an advocate for the Registered Nursing Associate role and its vital contribution to the current and future healthcare workforce.

Recognising the challenges and barriers Trainee and Registered Nursing Associates face in accessing Continual Professional Development (CPD) opportunities, BCU also champions their ongoing support and development beyond registration. We are hosting the second National Nursing Associate Conference at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire to meet this need. Key conference themes have been carefully developed through extensive engagement with Student and Registered Nursing Associates.

This conference is designed for Student Nursing Associates, Registered Nursing Associates, Clinical Educators, and all those involved in supporting and developing Nursing Associates in both educational and clinical settings. It demonstrates BCU's dedication to investing in and advancing the Nursing Associate role. The programme offers a diverse range of engaging and informative sessions presented by a wide array of healthcare professionals.

The conference will feature plenary sessions followed by a selection of stimulating workshops covering topics such as:

  • A review of the Nursing Associate role and standards for practice
  • The evolving role of the Nursing Associate
  • Working within your scope of practice
  • Exploring professional and personal development opportunities
  • Nursing Associate success stories
  • Developing research skills
  • Self-care and reflection

The day will also offer ample opportunities to network with participants and exhibitors.
