Severn Brass is a septet formed of senior students at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. The ensemble is versatile, being split between exploring 19th century impressionist repertoire and the eccentric music of the world famous Mnozil Brass.

Off the back of their recent success in the Bernard Brown Brass Ensemble Prize, Severn Brass look forward to performing Ravel's Mother Goose, bringing to you the lush sonorites of the impressionist era.

Sarah Potweijd (pictured) is a 22-year-old pianist originally from Bath, now in her final year of undergraduate study at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, studying under Katharine Lam. Recent solo recitals have included Bristol Cathedral, Birmingham Cathedral and Holy Trinity Stratford-on-Avon, along with performances at the Ulverston International Music Festival.

Sarah gave her concerto debut with the Willow Orchestra in London in September 2024, where she performed the Delius Piano Concerto. Winner of the Delia Hall Accompanist Prize in December 2023, Sarah is a keen collaborative pianist, who has given recitals with other instrumentalists and singers all over the country, including London, Leeds and Leamington Spa.

Having taken part in the Ballet Pianist Placement Scheme in her third year, Sarah is now a staff member at Elmhurst Ballet School, where she works as a ballet pianist, and has been working with the school for her Final Project, an evening performance entitled Piano en Pointe.
