- Bones Apart Trombone Quartet
- RBC Brass Band - directed by Ian Porthouse
Beginning at 10am, Paul Fisher will lead an entertaining Massed Blast session for young brass players of all standards. You don’t have to be able to read music in order to join in. There will be an informal sharing of everyone’s work in Bradshaw Hall at 11.30am (parents are welcome to join us), before the fabulous Bones Apart trombone quartet perform at 12pm. During the morning, Ian Porthouse will also lead a masterclass for budding brass band conductors in the Recital Hall.
After lunch, children will have the opportunity to participate in ensemble sessions with RBC tutors including Helen Varley (tenor horn), Chris Robertson (euphonium) and Les Neish (tuba). The ensembles will share their work with everybody in Bradshaw Hall at 4pm. During the afternoon, James Fountain (Principal Trumpet of the London Symphony Orchestra) will also deliver a masterclass before performing with the RBC Brass Band as part of the closing concert. This final performance will run from 4.30pm to 5.30pm.
Please note that, whilst entry is free, parents who would like to attend an informal sharing and/or the closing concert are required to book in advance on the website.
