RBC French Season 2024–25

The 2024-25 academic year will see a celebration of French music and music-making in France at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, spanning all areas of our musical activity, from solo recitals to orchestra and choir, encompassing everything from early music through to contemporary and jazz.

Season highlights include a week of salon-style concerts devoted to Fauré and his contemporaries in the centenary of his death and with Pascal Rogé as artist-in-residence, an orchestral extravaganza featuring the UK première of an orchestration by Berlioz, the first known performance of a work by the black composer, violinist and conductor Chevalier de Saint-Georges, Poulenc’s extraordinary solo opera La voix humaine, an all-Ravel recital on RBC’s 1890s Erard piano celebrating his 150th birthday and a rare opportunity to hear Boulez’s dazzling Sur incises in his centenary year.

Events will be supported by talks and introductions from RBC’s world-leading French Music Research Hub, and the academic centrepiece of the gallic season is a Symposium on Timbre and Colour in French Music.

A full list of events will be published soon.
