VoxBox: Ravishing Delights - Handel’s arrival in England
Conductor Chris Bucknall
Handel made a splash with his arrival in England in 1711. His ‘magic’ opera Rinaldo wowed audiences with its combination of Italian sensuousness and virtuosity.
His first ten years in England were marked by his exploration of the British musical market of the day and how he could adapt his skills to them.
Join members of the RBC Vocal and Historical Performance departments and conductor Christopher Bucknall in a celebration of some of these delight alongside music by his friends and rivals.
