Technical description: Three sections (barrel missing) of blackwood, ebonite mouthpiece, with modern style German silver keywork, German silver ferrules. It is possible that this instrument and 4.12 were a pair.
Inscription: Stamped on the upper joint: “[motif: bee monogram] / MARTIN Fres / A PARIS / [MF monogram]”; stamped on bell: “[motif: bee monogram] / MARTIN Fres / A PARIS / [MF monogram] / [row of five medals incorporating “MF”, the middle one inscribed “PARIS / 1889 / 1900”] / GRAND PRIX”.
