Arun Sukumar is a Professor of Digital Business Innovation at Birmingham City University. His research interests are in technology based transformational entrepreneurship especially, in exploring societal transformation and sustainability achieved through the study of complex sociotechnical systems.
Prof Sukumar has published more than 70 articles in ranked journals and has secured and delivered projects that focus on entrepreneurial route to energise socio-economic development. He mainly works on the themes of transformational entrepreneurship, that focuses on the trifecta of economic growth, social cohesion, and environmental impact facilitated by digital transformation. His previous funding has come Newton Fund, EU, British Council and Brazilian Government.
He has worked with Coventry City council on projects identifying innovation strengths in the region and developed profiling tools to assesses businesses for their capacity to innovate. He has developed and supervised PhD projects around transformational entrepreneurship and has been a consultant in advising SMEs and social enterprises to develop digital strategies and resilience. He is a known author, reviewer, and member of editorial boards.
