Viranjay joined the Electronics Engineering Department at BCU in early 2023. Prior to this, he was employed by the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), Durban, South Africa as an Associate Professor for more than 9 years from 2013 to 2023, where he is now an Honorary Associate Professor (since June 2023).
Before this job, he was with Tshwane University of Technology (TUT), Pretoria, Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT), India for five years spanning from 2008 to 2013 as Assistant Professor. Additionally, Viranjay had a stint of experience with some industries such as Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), Bangalore, India, and Diesel Locomotive Workshop (DLW), Varanasi, India for training and the undertaking of projects.
In order to derive and drive the novelty in Microelectronics / Integrated Circuits / Analogue Devices area with all his teaching and research interest and experience, Viranjay is involved in research work where his ideas on chip designing must be materialized and also contribute to the micro-chipping manufacturing sector. Furthermore, his innovation will be tested on the laboratory and industrial levels, in coming 2-4 years duration.
Viranjay is impressed and influenced by the Birmingham City University’s practice-based department and its undergraduate/postgraduate programs, which are delivered using the conceive, design, implement, and operate (CDIO) framework, making its teaching and research relevant to the evolving world. In addition, its student-focused, collaborative and cross-disciplinary culture is very encouraging and interesting to gain a unique insight into impactful domains.
For last more than 13 years, Viranjay has supervised 11 Post-Doc fellows, 13 Doctorate, 17 Masters (Engineering), 10 Masters (Project management, based on AI, etc.), and 37 undergraduate honors students in the area of Electronics Engineering (used in Electrical/Computer/Telecommunication Engineering) with the design of switches and its application in communication systems.
On the basis of these research, Viranjay has eight Patent and its articles, two books, 13 book and magazine chapters, more than 180 refereed journal articles and 140 conference papers (IEEE, etc.).
