The Lab

The Lab is a cutting edge, completely flexible black-box studio with a technical walkway suspended around the perimeter.

The venue has fixed acoustics with a low reverberation time and duplicate input points for a mobile sound desk to be installed at either end of the room. This enables complete flexibility in the set-up and layout of the performance and audience areas.

State-of-the-art technical facilities include a Meyer PA system, a 10.2 surround sound system consisting of main left and right including subs over the stage plus eight discrete speaker channels positioned around the perimeter of the hall for multi-channel surround sound, Dante audio network for flexible location recording purposes, an SSL L300 sound desk with 24 mic channels (maximum I/O 568 in/out 600 with Dante), comprehensive LED performance lighting, laser projector and screen with wireless presentation connectivity, and truss grids on motorised hoists across the footprint of the venue for ease when supplementing the space with additional equipment. With access to Steinway model D or model B grand pianos, there is also a wide range of other instruments and equipment available for hire.
