[00:00:04] Josi (fresher character) Yes, I am going to start uni in September, and I'm actually really excited.

[00:00:15] Josi Today, we're talking about things that you might not realise before you start uni, because I'm sure if you're about to start, you have certain expectations, negative or positive about what uni is going to be like. And it's probably not going to be any of those.

[00:00:34] Josi (fresher character) I'm just wondering, how are we going to do our washing, like, maybe we can all do our reds and whites together, mm saves money, doesn't it, yeah?

[00:00:42] Josi You have to do the cleaning. You have to do your washing. You have to do your dishes all the time. And it does not stop. It's not like you do it once. You're like, wow, I did it. Please, someone applaud me. You have to do it every single day.

[00:01:02] Josi (fresher character) I also wrote a cleaning schedule and picked some days so we can all go shopping together.

[00:01:16] Josi I really took it for granted, not having to go shopping by myself or shopping in general. It's all so expensive if you have to pay with your own money.

[00:01:27] Josi (fresher character) I already went to IKEA and Wilko you know, and bought some things for the kitchen, but I'm sure..[indistinct mumbling].

[00:01:38] Josi Also, you probably don't realise how quickly fruit and veg goes off, if you buy it yourself, you buy yourself some lettuce too have for your sandwiches and then the next day is off. Yikes.

[00:01:57] Josi Another thing specifically about BCU, that I didn't realise is because there's so many campuses and so many sites to BCU; there is the main campus, there's a school of jewellery, school of art, the city south campus. There's a lot and I didn't know about all of this, and I'm sure most people don't either. And you actually have access to all of these buildings with your student card, you could go to any of these buildings and have, I don't know, lunch, go to the library there, meet other people...you are allowed to go to all of these. And it's actually really exciting to make use of that.

[00:02:44] Josi If you're looking into living at a student house that doesn't have bills included, you probably forget that bills are an actual thing and having to pay for water, electricity and gas. I certainly did. And when I got my first bill, I was like, oops, that's a thing.

[00:03:10] Josi Everyone is very individual. Everyone has their own experience at uni, so if someone tells you it's going to be like that, it's probably not going to be like that for yourself. And I wouldn't worry too much about it and just jump into the water and let it happen, because, in the end it's a lot of fun.

[00:03:29] Josi That's it from me. I hope you're not scared after watching this video because you'll be fine.

[00:03:36] Josi (fresher character) Yeah. I'm just so excited to move in together and have the house really nice and decorated, you know, and we could all go out together. Oh, it's going to be so good...
