Masterclass and taster daysOur programme of talks and workshops cater for all learners and aim to provide quality information, advice and guidance.

They can be delivered at your institution or as part of a visit day at the University.

An introduction to higher education All Year Groups

This inspiring talk introduces students to the world of higher education and can be tailored for specific year groups. The talk covers the benefits of studying at higher education level, how to research courses/universities, the UCAS application process, student finance, and student life.

Researching higher education Years 11 - 13

This can be delivered as a talk or a workshop and focuses on the different research methods students can take in choosing which is the right course and university for them.

The UCAS application process and how to write an effective personal statement Years 12 and 13 The personal statement is a crucial part of the UCAS application process and is the key opportunity for students to highlight why they should be offered a place on the course they’re hoping to study. This topic can be delivered as a talk or a workshop and includes an overview of the UCAS application process, useful advice, guidance and top tips on how to write the most effective personal statement, and also provides an overview of the university interview process.
Life as a university student Years 10 - 13 This talk is delivered by our Student Ambassadors and gives your students first-hand insight in to life as a university student. The talk can be delivered as a presentation or an interactive workshop in smaller groups.
Study skills: Revision techniques Years 10 - 13 This session can help introduce new study techniques for effective revision. It aims to cover a wide range of topics including target setting, learning styles and how the environment can effect learning.
Introduction to student finance and budgeting Years 10 - 13 For many students, finance is a major concern and a barrier to entering higher education. This talk aims to dispel the myths and prepare young people with key budgeting skills through various interactive activities..
Student Ambassador Subject Talks All year groups

Our Student Ambassador talks cover a host of subjects offered by the University, including Art and Design, Engineering, Business and Health. The talks are delivered at your institution by current students and are a great way for your learners to prepare for life at university and ask any questions they have.

Think Higher Workbook and Career Research Years 10 and 11 This 90 minute workshop aims to guide students through our 'Think Higher' activity brochure. Supporting students with their career decision research, it can be combined with research activities using IT facilities to further enhance self-understanding of their interests, learning style and future career opportunities.

HE Challenge Workshop

Years 7 and 8

This two-hour workshop combines our inspiring 'Why Higher Education' talk with an interactive quiz and construction challenge. This challenge aims to not only enhance young people's knowledge of higher education but also to demonstrate, through practical activities, employability skills, such as, team-work and time management.
