Dr Olufunmilayo Jinadu

Dr Olufunmilayo 'Funmi' Jinadu recently joined BCU as a Lecturer in Broadcast Journalism. Funmi has experience working on radio as a presenter, news editor and producer in the UK and Nigeria.

She has just completed a PhD in journalism at the University of Limerick, Limerick Ireland where she was also a journalism lecturer. Her PhD research takes a postcolonial perspective on the domestic and international media representation of Africa.

Her interests are in postcolonial, decolonial studies, and critical discourse analysis. She also has experience with using linguistics tools such as Corpus Linguistics for journalism research. Funmi is currently working on publishing her thesis into a monograph and is also working on a book chapter in an edited volume on Media and Inequality.
