What is the Millennium Point Scholarship?

Do you want to work within the built environment, become a leader in AI technology or solve engineering problems to make the world a better place? Then we want to hear from you.

If you apply for the scholarship and are successful, you could get your course fees paid for three years of study! Millennium Point Trust is committed to growing STEM talent in the West Midlands and wants to hear from you if you’re going to be the next bridge builder, have plans to break boundaries in film and music or want to develop the next best-selling indie computer game!

What you could get

If you’re selected as a winner, you will get your undergraduate degree fully funded in the Faculty of Computing, Engineering and the Built Environment.

It’s not just about the winner or winning, if you make it to the final you will be invited to participate in developmental workshops that will focus on supporting your personal development and professionalism in both interview and presentation skills.

Who can apply?

You can apply for this scholarship if you meet the below criteria:

  • You live in the West Midlands Combined Authority area in the United Kingdom. We also do not accept overseas or international applications.
  • You are 18 by September 2025, and looking to start an undergraduate degree at Birmingham City University in the Faculty of Computing, Engineering and the Built Environment.
  • Your chosen course is listed on our website under the ‘What Courses are Included’ section.
  • You have applied to Birmingham City University via UCAS for your chosen course within the Faculty of Computing, Engineering and the Built Environment.
  • You are available to participate in the finalist workshop on Saturday 12th April and the assessment on Wednesday 7th May 2025.

Who was the latest winner?

Last year, local student Patrick Mezzano was awarded the MP Scholarship for his outstanding work. He wowed judges with his vision for creating affordable housing for all, and now is closer to making his ideas a reality as he is currently studying Real Estate at BCU.

2024 Scholarship finalists, Joe Paddock, Jordan Badger, Benyamin Bansal and Shahzeb Khan, were also awarded laptops by the Trust to help with their further studies.

Celebrating 10 years of Scholarship success

As part of a decade long commitment to student success, Millenium Point Trust sat down with some of the previous winners to revisit their winning moments.

2023's Winner Safa, a Computer Science student, highlighted the transformative experience the Scholarship provided:

"Overall, the Scholarship has not only paved the way for academic success but has also enriched my university experience by providing a progressive and collaborative environment. I’m excited to continue this journey, exploring new challenges and developing technologies in the field of Computer Science".

How do you apply?

Applications are open from Monday 6 January 2025 until Friday 7 March 2025. Find out more about the scholarships here: Millennium Point website
