Sam Every (little) Big Band - TV Time
Iconic TV themes like you've never heard them before
It’s time to relax on the sofa with a cuppa, put your feet up and switch on the telly to watch your favourite show – only this time, all of the classic theme tunes from throughout history have been rearranged for full jazz big band.
Tonight, The Sam Every (Little) Big Band take you on a whirlwind tour of classic tv themes, reimagined in the style of Count Basie, Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald. Performed by some of the hottest young jazz talent in the UK, they’ll be performing everything from Match of The Day to Fireman Sam – all like you’ve never heard them before.
The Sam Every Big Band are widely considered one of the most exciting young big bands performing in the UK today.
After making their London club debut in 2019, they have gone on to obtain a 100% sell-out record at all of their London Jazz Club appearances. They are regular performers at the Pizza Express Jazz Club in Soho and the world-famous Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club along with a number of other leading venues across the country. In 2023, they opened the London Jazz Festival for the Pizza Express Jazz Club with UK singing sensation Emma Smith.
They are a projects-based band formed of leading UK jazz and session musicians, performing a variety of unique sets, entirely compiled of original arrangements for the band, with acclaimed UK singers. Some of the band members credits include the likes of Elton John, ABBA, Tom Jones and Van Morrison. So far they have worked with the award-winning Emma Smith, Luca Manning, Sara Colman, Natalie Williams, Stefan Mahendra and Freddie Benedict; performing bespoke, originally arranged sets of music celebrating music from the likes of The Beatles, Quincy Jones, George Gershwin, Stephen Sondheim, Stevie Wonder and more.
Outside of live performing, during in the 2020 lockdown, the band remotely recorded a 5 track Christmas EP, named “Christmas Is Here.” A mixture of original songs and arrangements by band leader Sam Every, the EP was digitally released to critical acclaim. It quickly gained multiple listens across BBC and digital Radio and was used in a number of Christmas adverts in 2020 and 2021 across ITV, Channel 4, BT Sport and SKY TV.
