Clair is a Faculty Academic Lead, working on projects and innovations across the Faculty of Health, Education & Life Sciences.

Clair is the course lead for the Post Graduate Medical Ultrasound programme.

Clair teaches on the BSc (Hons) Radiotherapy programme, using her background as a therapeutic radiographer to inform her teaching. The radiography disciplines are very different, but share many elements relating to patient care and professional regulation.

Clair is the Personal Tutor for a number of undergraduate radiotherapy and postgraduate medical ultrasound students seeing them regularly to offer pastoral support and discuss their progress, both in their academic studies and in their clinical placement.

Clair is involved in research, particularly student belonging and mattering within Higher Education and clinical placement, and is completing her doctoral studies within this area.

Within the Faculty, Clair is the deputy insurance lead for the Faculty Ethics Committee, a member of the HELS Faculty Learning, Teaching, Assessment and Quality Committee (FLTAQ), takes part in DBS panels and is a Case Officer for Fitness to Practice cases, student disciplinary and academic appeals.

Clair undertakes a wider role in both Radiography and Higher Education, and is involved in the following external activities;

  • Member of the community engagement team for United Kingdom Advising & Tutoring (UKAT) association, a professional body of practitioners and researchers interested in all aspects of advising and tutoring in FE and HE in the UK.
  • Treasurer for Association of Radiography Educators (ARE), who promote excellence in radiography practice and patient care through education, innovation and research.
  • Assessor for the Society and College of Radiographers (SCoR) Approval and Accreditation Board (AAB), assessing course submissions, education providers, practice placements and applications from individuals for accreditation
