Mark has been a member of ADD (Academic Development Department) for just over two years but has been employed at BCU since 2006. He was originally a Multimedia content producer for the SALT team in the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching. After completing his Masters in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education Mark taught on and led a number of modules such as Designing the Student Learning Experience; Technology Enhanced Learning and Teaching; Blended Learning; and Curriculum Design.
Mark is currently a member of Academy Higher Education and is a Senior Fellow.
In the ADD Mark is a Professional Navigator and helps facilitate applicants and ongoing students to appraise their prior learning in order to gain credits which can subsequently contributed towards their BCU programme award.
As an academic skills tutor Mark supports students from across the HELS faculty at all levels in their ability to grasp concepts such as critical thinking and analysis and help support them with their studies skills such as academic writing, reflection, developing arguments, referencing, using research and evidence.
As course leader to the HELS Foundation Year, Mark oversees the day-to-day running of the courses and liaise with the various schools, department heads and course leaders regarding students on the Foundation Year. He supports a team of Foundation year academics with regards to their modules, assessments and day-to-day business. Mark is also the admissions tutor for the Foundation Year, and is involved with the recruitment of in-coming students onto the Foundation Year and then their progression on to their undergraduate courses.
Mark is currently studying towards Professional Doctorate in Education.
