BCU Accelerate
This exciting new programme aims to increase learner attainment and encourage a positive approach to learning. This is achieved through intensive work with sixty pupils per year group at the Programme Partner school.
Across the five-year plan, engaged learners will have access to higher education workshops, subject specific activities and tailored mentoring for information, advice and guidance (IAG). A member of University staff will be placed within the Programme Partner up to two days a week during term time, coordinating a bespoke IAG plan to support Gatsby Benchmarks achievement.
BCU Accelerate activities are delivered by universities and colleges staff, careers advisers and employers. We also work with current university students and recent graduates, who we train as Ambassadors and Coaches to act as positive role models, tutors and mentors for young people.
All staff working for BCU Accelerate are enhanced DBS checked and trained in child protection.

We’re currently delivering this project with Hamstead Hall Academy, situated in Handsworth Wood, Plantsbrook School and Fairfax School situated in Sutton Coldfield, and Aldridge School which is situated in Walsall.
