Rapid urbanisation in communities
Eccles develops an international interdisciplinary collaboration called Gramer Haor since 2019. It is formed between Eccles Ng from Birmingham City University (BCU), Associate Professor Kawshik Saha from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) in Bangladesh and (Abu) Abubokkar Siddiki, a British Bangladeshi Architect, Director of Gaon Workshop from London, UK. This collaboration provides a live project platform for the students and staff to learn and apply the King’s Foundations Rapid Planning Toolkit on a pilot project, to address the issues of the local community, develop a sustainable vision for the village in the northeast of Bangladesh and research in the field of rural urbanisation.
Risk taking in urban public play spaces
Eccles explores how landscape architects design public play spaces that accommodate multi-generational users with a special focus on balancing risk-taking opportunities, inclusivity, and safety regulations.
