Philip Paul Miller (1949 –2017) was an English progressive rock/jazz guitarist and composer who was central to the Canterbury scene. Miller was a self-taught guitarist and formed his first band, Delivery, at age 17, which backed blues musicians playing at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in London. In the 1970s, he was a founding member of Matching Mole, Hatfield and the North and National Health.
The Phil Miller Collection comprises mostly of his compositional work, LPs, CDs, and other ephemerals related to his artistic career.
The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire holds an annual Phil Miller Guitar Prize Competition in its Eastside Jazz Club for students and is awarded to the best performance interpretation of one of Miller’s compositions.
