As an acknowledged academic, Sana teaches and mentors students in architectural and urban studies at Birmingham City University.
She has over 14 years of experience in academic leadership, course development, and curriculum design. With certification in urban affordable housing from the Harvard Graduate School of Design, her research focuses on affordable housing studies, housing design, built environment and urban political economy.
She is also Co-Founder of Women in Architecture Pakistan (WAP), a platform that promotes and supports female architects and urban planners in the region. She contributes to the vision, strategy, and outreach of the organizations working for affordable housing in South Asia, as well as provide consultancy services to clients and partners.
Additionally, she is an editorial board member of Housing and Society, a peer-reviewed journal that publishes research on housing issues and policies. She has multiple publications in the built environment and housing sector, demonstrating expertise and passion for urban development. Her mission is to apply an interdisciplinary analytical approach to address the challenges and opportunities of urbanization and housing in emerging markets.
