Catherine is a part-time lecturer in pattern cutting, specialising in fit and garment construction for performance. She has taught at BCU for five years while continuing to work on a freelance basis.

Catherine has nearly twenty years of experience in costume construction for various forms of stage-based performance. She began her career in temporary roles as a sewing assistant in-house with various theatre companies before securing a permanent full-time position as the Ladies Cutter at Opera North in Leeds. After leaving to have children, she continued her work on a freelance basis, expanding her expertise to include menswear alongside ladieswear and developing a specialism in dancewear.

In recent years, Catherine has taken on roles as a designer in addition to her work as a maker. She is currently designing, constructing, and sourcing costumes for Motionhouse’s new show, Hidden.
